CAN YOU SHARE WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN ARTIST, AND WHERE DID IT BEGIN?

My painting started at a very young age. Growing up with my mum as an artist, watching her paint in her studio, I was always really inspired by my mother and was lucky enough to learn most of what I know from her. As I got older, it was something I would do on the side when I felt inspired, which then turned into something I was really passionate about and wanted to do every day.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE AND THE TECHNIQUES YOU WORK WITH?

I would say it is difficult to put a label on my style, as it is ever-changing. I feel inspired by new things all the time and never want to put myself into a box of what I am or what I am not. I really love colour, especially bright, vibrant tones, as well as working on a large scale - the bigger the canvas, the better for me. I love to be as expressive as possible.

I create a mix of both abstract works and more contemporary, refined pieces, depending on what I feel like creating. At the moment, I’m enjoying creating abstract pieces more, as they are more challenging throughout the painting process, involving more problem-solving and pushing you as an artist.

WHAT THEMES OR IDEAS ARE YOU MOST DRAWN TO, AND WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WORK?

I am definitely influenced by my travels, the fashion world, and interior design. I absolutely love drawing inspiration from the world around me, and I feel this can definitely be seen in elements of my work. I am usually most drawn to colours and how they work together - this is typically the foundation of all my work, with the rest of the painting evolving from there.

HOW DOES FASHION INFLUENCE OR CONNECT WITH YOUR ARTISTIC WORK?

I have always loved fashion and the way you can express yourself as an individual - I think this really plays a part in my art, as each piece speaks to a moment in time for me: how I was feeling, what inspired me, and what I was drawn to. I often feel that fashion shares some of the same characteristics - trends are ever-evolving, but I love that you can always reinvent yourself or find pieces that feel authentic to you.
